Surprised at Chela. This is among the best plating I've seen in NYC, ranks up there with the luxest restaurants. But the rest isn't pretentious at all, it's refreshing. Had the esquitas, ribs, and Arabic tacos. All exquisite. My only complaint is the corny service. We had two different servers and both were trying so hard for tips with invented energy that it came off as fake. Not sure who's training these people, but please switch it up.

As a frequent visitor of Chela! I feel compelled to leave a review. I visited this past Tuesday and was in awe of how delicious the food is. I ordered the Arabic Taco, brisket Taco and Chicken taco. The Arabic taco was out of this world. Sweet and savory on a pita like tortilla. My server was knowledgeable and attentive throughout. The drinks were well balanced, and I enjoyed my mango chipotle margarita. Will definitely return soon.

The food was delicious , the fish tacos were fresh and flavorful. The milanesa on the tartar was soft and tender. My favorite was the churros!! The staff were great very attentive and sweet. Definitely recommend this location. Great ambiance to catch up with friends. Not captured but the margaritas were also a plus!

Happy hour drinks at this spot is On point the place gets packed during the start of the weekend. If you Live in the slope This is One of the better happy hour spots.

Friday night dinner during happy hour. Place was pretty packed and lively. Service was good our waiter was very attentive. The Mexican poutine with shrimp was SO good as well as my birria tacos. I also had a coconut margarita that was delicious. Good happy hour prices! I will definitely be back whenever I am in the area again.

Came here for dinner Saturday night with my coworker because we were in the mood for tacos and drinks. The restaurant has very friendly staff and a fun, lively atmosphere. We were able to grab a table outdoors and were lucky to have Cheryl as our waitress! She provided great service and was accommodating to what we needed/wanted. The tacos were delicious - we ordered the fish, shrimp, beef and pork - and the salsas they have added a great touch to them. As for the drinks, they were refreshing and yummy.

Amazing drinks! We stopped in for food close to the end of the night and weren't disappointed. The mole was chocolatey and spicy. Great chips. Bar seating is comfortable and the staff are friendly and attentive. We'll be back!

Came on a Saturday evening for dinner with my husband. It wasn't super busy when we arrived, so we were seated right away. We were given water and chips with salsa automatically. No physical menus provided, scan the QR code on the table. Their website menu is a little confusing to navigate, I think the layout can be improved because I couldn't find the non-alcoholic drinks under the dinner menu, it has it's own separate tab all the way at the top of the website. I'm currently pregnant so I had asked if they do mocktails and our server said yes basically anything on their cocktail menu can be made virgin. I ordered a virgin Mango Margarita and it was delicious, a bit on the tarte and lime-y side but refreshing and cool and half price due to the lack of alcohol. From their dinner menu, I ordered the shrimp tostada which to me was very delicious. Shrimp had great flavor and the tostada was perfectly crunchy and not greasy. I wanted to order a second one, I liked it so much. I also ordered their shrimp and arabic tacos, but we didn't like them. Arabic tacos were too sweet and the flavors didn't mesh well together. The shrimp tacos were crispy but the coleslaw was pasty and with the tortilla, the pasty mess sort of congealed and got stuck to the back of my teeth when I bit into the taco, very annoying having to scrape off. Our waiter was kind and noticed that we didn't finish these 2 tacos and asked us what was wrong. We told him we didn't like them at all, and he kindly took them off of our bill without us asking for it. My husband ordered the guacamole and that was also a hit. We finished 2 baskets worth of chips which were crispy and again, non greasy. For our mains, my husband ordered the enchilada suizas, and I ordered the carne asada. Our main courses were tasty, my steak was cooked and seasoned well, and wasn't dry. It was a big portion as well but I managed to finish 95% of my 12 oz steak. I was particularly looking forward to having their tres leches dessert with peaches because I saw a photo of it from another reviewer so I was craving it. However, unfortunately that night they were out, and only had churros to offer. Bummer! Guess I have to come back! Overall, we enjoyed our date night at this restaurant and will definitely be coming back again soon. I recommend this place for established couples, and groups of friends. Not the best place in my opinion for a first date because it's very dim and dark inside, and also hard to hear who you're conversing with. Also side note, they've got an open kitchen which is really cool if you like watching the chefs do their thing. They're pretty efficient and food comes to your table as soon as it's ready. Good food, excellent customer service and kind, hospitable wait staff. Really enjoyed my evening dining here. I will return for cake and maybe more shrimp tostadas.

I'm in a really good mood! Why, you ask? Well my Yankees are 8-2 and I know, I know it's too early to celebrate but what the heck, I'm going to celebrate any way. As I walked in to Chela, I was hoping to see the game on their TV but it wasn't. Patrons were happy, drinking and dining on what looked like generous portions of food. We were seated right away and were told where to scan the menu QR code. Then, chips, salsa and water appeared instantly. So far, my kinda place. The menu has several options: Brunch, Brunch Drinks, Lunch, Appetizers, Dinner and Desserts. On Sundays, there is a HH from 4-7 pm, we met for lunch at 3pm. Not quite bummer because I'm drinking, no matter what time. lol! Their drink menu is quite impressive from Margaritas to Micheladas to Sangria to Paloma's etc. The Aperol Spritz appealed to both of us: there was a Strawberry Spritz which my friend ordered and I wanted an original Aperol. We munched on the chips and salsa; chips were delicious and fresh and the salsa had a nice kick to it. The drinks arrived and my friend really enjoyed the Strawberry flavor, I enjoyed mine. The tacos we ordered came out a bit after the chips were served which was appreciated. My friend ordered the grilled shrimp ( they come fried as the other option which was nice of waitress to give both options). with aioli ( I call it crack sauce) on the side. She loved them but wished she ordered avocado on the side. My rotisserie chicken tacos were delicious and the sauce on the side was smokin.. Both dishes came with rice and beans on the side as you can order 1 taco for $6 or 3 for $22 and get combo. The rice and beans were a disappointment, bland and could have used cilantro and a bit more spice. Our waitress was accommodating and courteous. The ambience is very chill and perfect for a lazy afternoon or celebrate another Yankee win! Chela is located on 5th Avenue, Park Slope. Take R train to 4th Avenue and 9th then five minute walk to Chela. Also, B63 to 5th Avenue and 7th Street.
